Recently, the AuroraWatch service has helped alert local amateur radio enthusiasts pick up the signal of more distant enthusiasts using auroral propagation. On July 16, Les Michaelson who runs amateur radio station VA6LM was contacted by users as far away as Hay River, NT and Norman Wells, NT! He was also able to pick up a station broadcasting in Alaska.
