The Predictometer Explained Print E-mail

Chance of Aurora tonight 20 23%

The predictometer shows the auroral forecast. The top bar shows the percentage likelihood of observing an aurora within the next hour, and the bottom bar shows the percentage likelihood of observing an aurora tonight.

As the aurora occurs above the clouds and are pale in colour, they will only be able to be seen from the ground on clear, dark nights. More advice on how best to view aurora is given in the “Tips for Viewing the Aurora” section of this website.
